May 2026
I have a fun update to write today, because we saw good progress in May. God answered prayers, and we had a
few visitors coming almost every Sunday in May. It was a wonderful encouragement to see at least one new
face walk through the door each Sunday. We did have one Sunday with no one and we couldn’t understand why
until I looked up the news and saw that the final soccer match of the Honduran National League was taking
place. Our church is pretty close to the stadium – maybe a mile away; our street was used for parking, and there
were pedestrians everywhere. Lesson learned, I’ll have to keep a closer watch on game schedules and make sure
to plan some good outreach/evangelism for those days.
May was also the hottest weather we have seen in Tegucigalpa this past year so that did slow me down a little
bit with outreach, but a long delayed rainy season finally started the last week of May. There have
been notices everywhere to conserve water because of how late the rains have been, but hopefully the cisterns
will fill soon, and in the meantime we are enjoying the cooler weather at least. The first day it rained, Amber
said she felt like a kid again like when it would snow. In case your curious, rainy season runs until about
October and it does rain most every day but usually just in the late afternoon and at night so I usually have a
nice cool but humid day for doing outreach on the streets.
We also were encouraged by a whirlwind two-day visit from Jason and
Lori Holt, missionaries to Chile and our Regional Director for Latin
America. We introduced them to as much of the city as we could, and
they encouraged our hearts with some good fellowship.
Please be in prayer for us through the month of June as we try out
different outreach methods. I would like to start some one-on-one Bible
studies with people this month, and we would love to see our visitors continue to attend services. We are also
changing our midweek service time to see if we can catch more people coming home from work. Thank you so
much for your prayers for us and the city of Tegucigalpa. God is moving!
